At Veridas, we firmly believe that true technological progress is only possible when science and industry collaborate, sharing knowledge and vision. In this spirit, and thanks to the ENIA UAM–VERIDAS Chair in Responsible Artificial Intelligence, we had the privilege during the second quarter of 2025 to take part in two training sessions delivered by the renowned BiDA-Lab group at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM).
This collaboration stems from a shared commitment between the university and Veridas to promote ethical, effective, and socially beneficial AI. It is part of the objectives of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union through the NextGenerationEU initiative.
Exploring the Frontiers of Global AI
On April 3rd, the BiDA-Lab team provided us with a comprehensive overview of the key advances presented at the AAAI Conference, one of the most important international events in the field of artificial intelligence. The session gave us insight into emerging trends, helped us understand the direction of global research, and offered a chance to reflect on how these insights could be applied in the development of responsible AI solutions.
Cutting-Edge Technology Against Identity Fraud
Just one week later, on April 11th, the BiDA-Lab group shared with our team an innovative technical approach for detecting fake IDs using a patch-based methodology. This technique represents a significant step forward in the fight against identity fraud and reinforces our commitment to solutions that combine technological excellence with responsibility.
A Purpose-Driven Collaboration
Beyond their technical value, these sessions symbolize the kind of relationship we at Veridas strive to foster with the academic ecosystem: open, strategic, and transformative. The ENIA Chair is a key part of this effort, enabling a genuine exchange of knowledge between academia and industry while aligning scientific, business, and societal interests.
We at Veridas deeply thank the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the ENIA Chair, and the BiDA-Lab team for their generosity, professionalism, and dedication. Initiatives like this not only help us improve as a company but also allow us to contribute to the development of a safer, fairer, and more sustainable digital identity.
