All of them, in order to collect their pensions, needed to travel twice a year from their homes to a bank branch, with all the material and health costs that this entails. Since June 2021, thanks to BBVA Mexico and Veridas, more than 147,000 people have been able to carry out this process from the comfort of their homes. In COVID-19 times, this situation became especially dangerous for their health.<\/p><p>It was then that BBVA turned to Veridas, a technology partner since 2017, to try to find a solution that would improve the service to its elderly customers while protecting their health and safety.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>With the clear conviction that biometrics is capable of providing a better user experience while raising security levels, the solution chosen was <a href=\"https:\/\/veridas.com\/voice-biometric-authentication\/\">voice biometric authentication<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2db73b1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"2db73b1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c8ffd48 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c8ffd48\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Closing the digital divide with biometrics<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3242756 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3242756\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Veridas&#8217; voice biometrics solution consists of registering a voiceprint in person at the branch. In this way, seniors are assisted by bank staff and in just 5 seconds are registered for future interactions.\u00a0<\/p><p>Once the registration is done, which is only required once, pensioners receive a phone call every 6 months where it is enough to hear them speak for 3 seconds for the system to identify them correctly.\u00a0<\/p><p>In addition, thanks to its text and language independence features, the bank&#8217;s customers can express themselves freely and in any language or dialect, closing a cultural gap that is very present in Mexico, where there is a great diversity of languages.\u00a0<\/p><p>The authentication process using voice biometrics is especially friendly for the elderly as they do not even need to interact through a smartphone, but can do so naturally from their landline phone.\u00a0<\/p><p>To avoid possible cases of fraud, the Veridas voice recognition system has an anti-spoofing system that detects pre-recorded voices and warns of possible identity theft.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9009054 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"9009054\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc98c07 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bc98c07\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>&#8220;Voice biometrics is very practical and accessible, and allows people without many resources to use this technology with a landline or low-end cell phone.&#8221;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-24109dd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"24109dd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Cynthia M\u00e9ndez, Director of Pension Management, says in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LxW5y1hCITY\">interview with Javier Tour\u00f3n<\/a>, our Marketing Director.
