Deutsche Telekom, Europe’s largest telecommunications company, has chosen Veridas, a world leader in digital identity verification solutions, as its single-source provider for authenticating users through the exclusive use of their voice. This agreement comes after a demanding and meticulous selection process that has lasted months and in which the German giant has been evaluating the best companies in the sector.

Bernhard Hochstätter, Executive Product Manager at Deutsche Telekom, indicated during a recent webinar between the two companies (watch webinar now), that one of the main reasons why they chose Veridas was the unique combination of cutting-edge technology and customer experience: «No other solution on the market provided us with the same quality of user experience, thanks to the minimal time required for registration and verification, while guaranteeing such a high level of accuracy, with minimal error rates».

The technology developed by Veridas places the Navarre-based company among the world’s leading providers of voice biometrics solutions. The solution, developed 100% by Veridas, allows users to be authenticated in just 3 seconds (when its main competitors such as Amazon or Nuance require 10 or 15 seconds), in any language and without the need to repeat a specific phrase. In addition, all this is done in less than 140 milliseconds, with an accuracy of over 99% and incorporating an anti-fraud technology that detects whether the voices are real or pre-recorded.

Several international organizations accredit these performance levels, including the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), the world’s most prestigious entity in biometrics, and the SdSV Challenge, in which Veridas was positioned as the second-best technology in the world. Currently, the Veridas biometrics engine is achieving an EER (Equal Error Rate) of 2.66% in the NIST Speaker Recognition Challenge, in which the solution is showing great performance.

Many companies are integrating the Veridas solution into their authentication processes, whether in a call center environment, as part of their own mobile applications or through third parties (virtual assistants, mobile messaging applications, etc.). The appetite for this technology is transversal: Veridas currently has customers from the financial sector, the alarm sector, the telecommunications industry, the energy sector and retail, among others.

As Miguel Zarraluqui, Product Manager for voice biometrics at Veridas, said during the webinar with Deutsche Telekom: «At Veridas we like to say that omnichannel is finally possible. Biometrics completely removes the security barriers that existed when authenticating users in alternative channels, enabling a level of customer interaction that was previously impossible.»
