The Government of Navarra has taken a decisive step in its commitment to technological innovation in service of its citizens with the development of its new Digital Identity Wallet. Currently, in a productive pilot phase, this new wallet will allow citizens of Navarra to digitally identify themselves using a secure and portable credential accessible directly from their mobile phones. This first stage is integrated with the Social Folder — a tool that provides access to the Unique Social History — and will enable simpler, more inclusive interactions with the Department of Social Rights.
This wallet will serve as an alternative method of citizen authentication, complementing existing systems such as CL@VE and digital certificates. It provides a simpler and more accessible experience, especially designed for individuals who are less familiar with traditional digital tools.
The Spanish Association of Telecommunications and Information Society Users (AUTELSI) has recognized this transformative project as the best technology initiative in the public sector.
Navarrese technology serving people
From the outset, this project has been designed with a people-centered approach. Using a methodology based on co-creation and real-world testing, Veridas — in collaboration with the Government of Navarra, the VidAAs Center, and NASERTIC — tested the solution with 39 individuals from diverse profiles, including elderly citizens, people with disabilities, caregivers, and participants in social inclusion programs.
This validation phase allowed us to identify usability barriers, implement improvements, and ensure that the final solution is secure, inclusive, easy to use, and adaptable to all capabilities. Because digital identity only makes sense if it’s accessible to everyone.
This solution brings citizens closer to public services by removing complexity and building trust. It gives each individual full control over their digital identity, ensuring personal data protection and allowing users to decide how and when their information is shared. Whether you’re an experienced technology user or taking your first digital steps, this tool was designed with you in mind.
This project sets a new standard for public services, proving that innovation must always go hand in hand with empathy, accessibility, and digital sovereignty.
It’s not just about digitalization — it’s about making sure that digital transformation reaches everyone and truly improves lives.
Veridas Nexus: The technology behind the Identity Wallet
The technology that powers the Government of Navarra’s Identity Wallet is part of Veridas Nexus, our proprietary solution for portable, reusable, and sovereign digital identity. Designed to meet the highest European standards, Nexus enables any government or institution to provide citizens with a trusted digital identity, fully under each user’s control.
Veridas joins the WE BUILD consortium to drive Digital Identity in the EU
Veridas has also been selected to participate in the second phase of the Large Scale Pilots for the EU Digital Identity Wallet, as part of the WE BUILD consortium.
Backed by the European Commission, this consortium aims to strengthen the EU Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem through the development of real-life use cases that simplify everyday life for citizens and businesses. With nearly 200 partners — including Member States, public institutions, and private organizations — WE BUILD will address 13 strategic use cases in the areas of digital identity, payments, and legal representation.
As part of our participation in WE BUILD, we will deploy our identity wallet solution to enable payments via OTIP (One-Time Identity Provisioning). This development will facilitate secure digital transactions in two key areas:
-
Purchasing age-restricted products, ensuring proper identity verification for consumers.
-
Access to reduced-rate services for senior citizens, ensuring that benefits are granted only to those who meet eligibility criteria.
