The system proved to be a scalable solution, specially designed for stadiums and venues without major infrastructure demands, which represent the vast majority in the region.
In under a week, Puntoticket, Veridas, and Bica rolled out a cloud-based biometric access system at Chile’s National Stadium. The solution can authenticate fans from any connected device, without the need for turnstiles or additional infrastructure. With just six portable devices, thousands of fans verified their identity and ticket in one second by simply showing their face, setting a new standard for security and fan experience at large events.
The real breakthrough was the ability to implement a cloud-based authentication solution in just five days. All fan validation (identity, ticket, and registration) happens securely online, which means any connected device, such as a handheld PDA, can manage stadium access. No local servers, turnstiles, or dedicated equipment are required.
During the World Cup qualifying match between Chile and Uruguay, more than 2,000 fans entered the stadium in just one second. The system simultaneously verified their identity, ticket, and registration in the ANFP’s National Fan Registry. In later matches, over 5,000 fans have already experienced this seamless entry.
Benefits
-
Technological simplicity: Runs on just six portable devices, no costly infrastructure required.
-
Scalability: Ready to scale up to 15,000 fans and 150 devices in the next phase.
-
Faster, smoother entry: One-second access.
-
No lines, no crowds: Total convenience for fans.
-
Enhanced security: Real-time fraud detection plus validation with the National Fan Registry.
This system is a game-changer for the industry, setting a new benchmark for mass access, particularly in stadiums and venues with limited infrastructure, which are the majority in the region.
A proven solution for the region
This system stands as a proven solution for the industry and sets a new benchmark for large-scale access, especially in venues with minimal infrastructure requirements, which are typical across the region.
It also validated the ANFP’s National Fan Registry in parallel, ensuring not only speed and convenience, but also the highest level of security, so that families can attend matches safely.
“Integrating the solution in five days and seeing it function without interruptions in a high-demand match is a huge achievement. For us, this marks the beginning of a new era in the fan experience in Chile and across Latin America in alliance with Veridas.” Marco Bravo, Operations Manager, Puntoticket.
What’s next: 15,000 fans, 150 devices
What has been achieved with 5,000 fans is only the beginning. The plan is to scale the operation to 15,000 attendees with more than 150 devices, opening the door to a new standard for major events.
The benefits are clear: faster and smoother access, increased security in identity control, privacy protection under the highest standards, and a significant reduction in operational costs.
“What we tested in Chile shows that modern biometrics is no longer the future, it’s the present. Validating identity and access in one second, without turnstiles or expensive infrastructure, opens a new era in managing large-scale events, from World Cup qualifiers to the world’s biggest shows.” Eduardo Artolazabal, Identity Expert, Veridas.
